We believe in education through positive experiences.
Throughout human history; the wolf has been feared, hated and misunderstood. People have used them to instill fear and teach lessons by wrapping myths and fairy tales around them. Our mission is to dispel the myths and reveal the facts on these fascinating creatures. Wolves are not only are intelligent, affectionate and family-oriented but as an apex predator they are also essential to our ecosystem!
We could simply give educational lectures that show pictures or read off facts and our audience can walk away and learn something. However, adding in one of our Ambassador animals enhances the experience. Having a positive, personal interactive encounter with an Ambassador Wolf will leave a lasting impression and cause people to think twice regarding all of the misconceptions of wolves.
Education on all canid species is also important to us at Ironwood- so through the years we have added foxes (and in the future plan to add more!).
Ironwood is not a sanctuary or rescue- all of our animals are raised and trained by us.
